mr + mrs canclini // romantic military wedding at the white sparrow // quinlan, tx
December 21, 2017
I usually don't prefer to book weddings in December. The holidays are such a crazy time, and shooting close to Christmas means deadlines close to Christmas, and that tends to stress me out, ya know?
When I first met Alejandra, I knew that I had been graced with such a blessing of a bride. The wedding she described was everything I could ever hope to photograph --- a multicultural military celebration at The White Sparrow for two high school sweethearts of almost NINE years. Goodness, real life is so much better than the movies sometimes.
I've often thought that military couples enter into marriage with so much more clarity than others. Alejandra knew that by marrying Jon Paul, she was enlisting to serve her country, too. She knows that, one day, he will have to leave her to fulfill his duties. She knows that one day he will be asked to risk his life for our country, and she walked down that aisle to marry him anyway.
They cherished every moment of their day in a way I've never witnessed before. The way he sought her out for every dance. The way she sang to him during every song and kissed him every time she got the chance, holding back tears and wishing time could stand still. Their wedding day was everything everyone wants, but few are willing to do the work and make the sacrifices that a love like theirs requires.
Alejandra and Jon Paul are an inspiration to everyone they meet, including me. No two people in the world have ever been more right together than Ale + JP.
Congratulations, Mr + Mrs Canclini!
I hope you are having just the most amazing Aspen honeymoon. You deserve it!!
