rachel + josh // sunny september engagements at san gabriel park + georgetown lake // georgetown, tx
September 5, 2017
It's one of life's craziest blessings to have friendships that span the course of decades and so many life-altering events. Rachel and I became friends in 7th grade, right around the time that our mutual best friend, Lindsey, was getting ready to move to another school.
Rachel and I had a lot of similar interests from sports to our faith and our academics. Having her around kept me pushing to be my best, but she also kept me humble. After all, no girl in our class was more of an athlete than Rachel McJimsey. (Seriously...she's a beast, y'all.)
Life took us in different directions after graduation. She went to Nacogdoches to study nursing at SFA, and I moved to Denton to study fine art at UNT. For the first time in 6 years, we had lives that the other knew almost nothing about. We had to trust that God would take care of us as we both journeyed towards adulthood, even when we couldn't be there to support each other.
Rachel is now a nurse in Georgetown. She survived nursing school. She survived finding a new church family. She survived moving away from Nacogdoches to start working her first full-time job. The Lord has guided her from one season to the next, providing exactly what she needed along the way.
That brings us to Josh. He is such a gentle, kind, intelligent, gracious, goofy person, and he complements Rachel in every way. After their engagement session, my husband and I had a fantastic dinner with Rachel, Josh, Lindsey, and her husband Brady. What a crazy sweet evening that was being together - all six of us - and visibly seeing our answered prayers sitting next to us around the dinner table.
On the way back home, Josh told us, "Rachel shatters every expectation I ever had for my future wife."
I could never hope for more for this friend of mine. I am so thankful.
Congratulations, Rachel and Josh! I can't wait to dance all night at your January wedding and celebrate God's faithfulness in bringing you together.
