alyssa + stuart // windy, romantic engagement session at wichita mountains wildlife refuge
March 29, 2017
At our consultation last month, Alyssa told me she and her fiance, Stuart, wanted a wide-open, outdoor location for their engagement photos. After doing a little research and seeing a couple of posts from other recent shoots on my blog. the future Mr. and Mrs. Long were sold on traveling to Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge for their session.
It's such a sweet (and crazy) thing to know that clients (and potential clients) are actually following along with my work. My entire life schedule revolves around making portraits for others (that's honestly not an exaggeration). Shooting and editing is my bread and butter, but sharing what I create has always taken a spot on the back burner. My theory, until recently, has always been that turning around images faster to the client is more important than sharing those images with the rest of the world. About six months ago, I was told I needed to make blogging a priority, or my business would suffer. I came up with a new schedule to make time (almost) every week to display my work in a more formal way. Blogging can be SO time-consuming and SO tedious, but I'm happy to say that it's been incredibly effective! I love sharing what I'm doing with the world and giving all my upcoming clients new ideas about what kind of photos they can have for themselves. So, to all of you who have made it this far through this post, thanks for reading. Thanks for thinking enough of my work to click on that link and scroll through these images. It means more than you know!
Alright, back to THIS session!
Alyssa, Stuart, and I had absolutely NO CLUE that while we were shooting in the most GORGEOUS weather beside lakes and on top of mountains that good ole DFW (where we all live) was getting POUNDED with heavy winds and MAJOR hail. I'm thankful we were all able to travel north a bit to avoid the bad weather this weekend and create these memories together. I can't imagine any more beautiful people with any sweeter love being more worth this 12 hour day!
Alyssa and Stuart, thank you both so much for being up for an adventure this weekend! I loved every part of your engagement session, and the photos are some of my favorites of all time! I hope they'll serve to remind you of this sweet and exciting season of engagement long after your sweet November wedding!
