Emma and Jake have a story much too incredible to fit into a simple blog post. There's no way to recount all the ways the Lord has been present and faithful to each of them throughout their lives and how loving He is to have brought them together in just the right time and place. He's too good for words.
I'm lucky to have met Emma about 2 years ago. What started as a simple coffee date turned into a 4-hour-long heart-to-heart. I had the pleasure of hearing all the ways the Lord had stretched and grown her in her faith over the course of her life and was blessed to share my story with her as well. I had never met anyone in my first 23 years who had experienced such similar seasons as I had in my own life. Part of me was expecting Ashton Kutcher to jump out from behind the counter at Jupiter House and tell me I was being punk'd.
We were both single at the time, and it was very apparent that both of us deeply desired marriage. We were equally trusting in God and His faithfulness no matter what did or didn't come. Little did we know we were both on the brink of beginning to date our future husbands. Jonathan and I went on our first date less than a week later. She met Jake just a few months down the road while serving at a summer camp. The timing in our meeting was incredibly sweet, and I'm so grateful for it.
Emma is the sister I never had. I often wonder how on earth the Lord waited until I was 23 to allow me to cross her path. There are so many times in my life I wish I would have had her number to call, and I wish just as much that I had been around to offer her encouragement or a shoulder to cry on in the more difficult times. No matter the explanation, I'm grateful that He allowed us to meet and experience these wonderful last couple of years as friends.
He has turned such heartache into healing and such sadness into fullness of joy.
To the Tittles,
I wish you nothing but deeply rooted joy all the days of your life. I trust that God will keep you both, in good times, in hard times, and every day in between.
Congrats, you two!
