hannah + leke // adventurous engagements // turner falls, oklahoma
January 24, 2017
There are so, so, SO many reasons why I loooooooove this session!
first --- Hannah is a photographer, too! It's always such an incredible honor when people who understand, appreciate, and so deeply cherish photography choose me of all people to step behind the camera on their behalf.
second --- They agreed to travel to Oklahoma with me so I could check out Turner Falls for the first time! Leke is a dental student in Dallas, so giving up almost 8 hours on a Saturday was quite a sacrifice on his part, and I am SO grateful! It was a blast, and I can't wait to photograph more couples out that way. (Holla at me, all you Oklahoma girls!)
third --- Hannah did a fantastic job putting their looks together. She kept both ensembles simple and made each piece count. Their outfits always complimented the other in color AND contrasted the other in value (darks and lights). They were each completely comfortable and able to move easily the entire session - this is key! I always want my clients to feel like themselves, not a mannequin in someone else's clothes. Hannah had her roommate transform her long locks into a gorgeous fishtail braid, and lemme tell ya --- I didn't hate it. :)
fourth --- I can't explain how excited I got when Hannah inquired a few months back. I look up every inquiring bride's name on Facebook so that I can 1, confirm that she's a real person before figuring out if we have any mutual friends, and 2, find pictures of the proposal, her fiance, and THE RING - of course! When I realized I had a GORGEOUS, local, multi-ethnic couple on my hands, I - was - ECSTATIC. Racial and ethnic diversity is incredibly important to me, and I've been longing for my website to reflect that more and more. I couldn't have asked for a better couple to plaster all over the place - I mean, my gosh (**spoiler alert**) THEY'RE AMAZING!!!
fifth --- Yes, there's a fifth. (There's actually more than that, but I'm limiting myself because you've probably already stopped reading, ya know?) Throughout the entire shoot, I would overhear Hannah and Leke speaking to one another. The only way I ever heard them address the other was with the word "friend". I liked that - a lot. If there's one thing I know for sure after spending the majority of my Saturday with these two, it's that they have a LOT of laughter in their future --- and they most certainly have a heck of a good friend.
Ideal couple? Check.
Ideal location? Check.
Ideal weather? Check.
What more could any photographer EVER want?!
Hannah and Leke, forever and ever amen.
Hannah and Leke,
I simply can - not - wait for your May wedding! I'm so excited to serve and photograph you guys again!!
Thanks so much for giving in to my adventurous side and traveling with me to Oklahoma for the sake of your session! And thank you (thank you!!!) for being so patient and kind as I was struggling with - what we now know was - the flu! There are no two people more worth serving on a sick day than you!
